Kenjeran is not Just a Beach
Many people know that Kenjeran in Surabaya is a beach. In fact, you need to know that Kenjeran is not just a beach. To be precise, Kenjeran is an area in eastern Surabaya which also has unique tourist destinations besides the beach. For example, is KenPark or Kenjeran park. The distance from Surabaya Square is only about 8 to 9 kilometers. Only with 15000 Indonesian Rupiah we can enter Kenjeran Park. After paying the ticket and entering the gate, I then look ahead and went straight a head. And on the left, there is Atlantis Land which includes a waterpark or rides to play like Atlantis. The price for it is 100.000 IDR for 1 person.
After
that, I saw a lot of trees in here. It is quite hot due to the scorching sun,
there are lots of shady trees that make this hot road pleasing to the eye. After
that I turned left and there were affordable food stalls with various types of
food and seafood such as Oyster Satay, Lontong Kupang, Lontong Balap and so on.
In the culinary center area there is a place to play or like a playground to be
enjoyed. When entering the park is completely free of charge and
environmentally friendly. Even though it is free, the safety and comfort of
playing facilities for children is guaranteed.
After that I contiuned my ride straight ahead until I found a large area and decided to park my motorbike in front of it. There is a gold Buddha statue with 4 faces or four-faced Buddha with 8 arms in this area. It is also a place of worship for Buddhists or Confucians. More or less, I saw four to five people praying with candles or incense lifted with both hands clapped. The Buddha statue is surrounded by 4 white elephant statues and Ganesha statue. When I was taking a photo of the Ganesha statue, I realized there were also many cats meowing around. Behind the Buddha statue there is also a small pool made for the pet dogs to swim.
After that I went back out and moved from the statue area to the across of the place which is also a Buddhist place of worship called "Sanggar Agung." Lots of red decorations here. When in front of the place of worship, there was an old man. He asked me “may I help you,” and I answered my purpose about visiting this for vacation. He then explained and directed me to walk on the right side of the “Sanggar Agung” because it is for visitors. While the left side is for those who wanted to pray. I then subtly answered with Kromo javanese "njeh sir (yes sir)" while entering through the right side of the building.
After
entering the hall on the right, I finally came out of the building and saw the
Kwan Im Goddess statue (the middle and the tallest one) and other statues, not
forgetting the 2 dragons below them. The view after that is Kenjeran beach with
the great beauty of the sea and the cool breeze that also carrying the brown
leaves flying that fall from the trees and scatter on the ground. I tried to move
forward and stay under the two dragon statues and saw the beautiful view of the
white sky. "Wow so breezy," I said at that place then sitting on the
ground and looking at the view on the right which had lots of trees and the
left is the sea. The tides were not too heavy in here, but I could clearly see
the sea was starting to rise.
I
went back out through the right lane of the building that I entered earlier,
and left "Sanggar Agung." Before leaving Kenjeran park, I went to
Tian Ti Pagoda. The Pagoda is a replica of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.
Unlike in China where worship is made, the replica in Kenjeran is just an empty
building made for tourism spots only. The pagoda is tubular with a conical roof
and is surrounded by dragon-like carvings in a combination of red and gold.
I
went outside and came out of the Kenjeran park gate where I bought the ticket
earlier. I then turn to right kept riding straight to the north. Passing
through the Kenjeran area, the next destination is the Surabaya bridge. If you
want to go in to enjoy this bridge, you have to park your vehicle at the bridge
entrance post and enjoy it on foot. Seen many people are exercising on this
bridge and do not forget to also take pictures.
After
walking around here, I continued my journey to the north again, and then the
view of the beach with rocks appeared in front of me. The view was very
pleasing to the eye and mesmerizing. I parked my motorbike and sat on a pile of
rocks showing that it was the boundary between sea and land. The clouds, the
sea, what a showy for my eye. Moreover, the wind here is very cool and breezy.
The hiss of the waves began to sound even though it was not heavy. Boats can
also be seen everywhere. Many stalls are open by providing shade and selling
very affordable food and drinks. I shall never forget in Kenjeran what I all
got. The view of the places, the clouds and the sea, are very addictive to once
again see.
